Narcissism Glossary

Revenge Body

The revenge body goes along with disordered eating.  Often times when the narcissist leaves us suddenly and has a new girl waiting in the wings, there is a need to show him what he lost.  The revenge body is just that.  You diet and work out in an effort to make yourself feel better and look better, but often times it’s still done with the narcissist in mind.

For example:  Perhaps when you were together he always said your thighs were fat or your stomach was flabby.  Maybe you train or maybe you get plastic surgery to try to make yourself feel better.  In the best case scenario you discover you want to look good for you and what started as revenge becomes a healthy lifestyle.  In the worst case it leads to body dysmorphia and insecurity, always feeling like you are not good enough.
